Disposition: Galahdian: Nyx is dedicated to his people and his culture. The loss of Galahd obviously weighs on him, and not just because he lost his sister and mother when it was attacked. He keeps a poster of Galahd above his bed in his apartment, and states he would fight "a hundred more wars for Galahdians to know boredom" (in reference to the boredom of peace). He doesn't try to blend in, keeping his native hairstyle, braids, and beads.
Adaptive but Arrogant: Nyx is very much someone who rolls with the punches and problems he encounters. However, he often goes against his superior's direct orders in order to save people close to him, or because he believes he has a better plan. He seems to operate under the idea of 'ask forgiveness, not permission'; first when saving Libertus, and again when he rallies the Kingsglaive before they are given formal orders after figuring out the Oracle was kidnapped. However, he's never shown complaining when he's punished for disobeying.
"Heroic": Nyx is commonly called the "Hero" amongst the Kingsglaive. As mentioned, he's shown to go out of his way to save those around him, taking risks that are seen as deadly. He seems to be lauded as a genuine hero because of these actions, although Crowe and Libertus seem to use this title with some derision. This may be because it's not necessarily a heroic instinct that drives him. Nyx is shown mid-battle thinking of his mother and sister; it's implied he takes these risks not out of a sense of duty, but because he may be a deathseeker with extremely good luck so far.
Loyal: Whenever Nyx takes up a cause, he dedicates himself to it whole-heartedly, especially if he trusts the person he's working under. He's shown handling the King's decision to give up the outer lands with more aplomb than other Galahdians, although their ire is understandable. He even ultimately gives up his life for someone he's known for only a day because the King asked him to see her to safety. However, this loyalty can be used against him - it blinds him to the betrayal of his commander until it almost results in his death. It also means his actions are more predictable - he'll always step up in defense of his family and people.
Follower, Not Leader: Nyx flourishes under someone's command, but isn't good at taking control of situations on his own. He can manage his own self well enough, even if he takes risks with his own life, but directing multiple people in an operation often results in him making mistakes or missing obvious traps until they are too late.
Under pressure: Nyx literally chose to sacrifice himself for the greater good within his canon, and knew his death was coming. Being taken to Noctium will mean that he has to take Lunafreya's words to heart - that Selena would want him to live, not to throw himself into danger constantly, and does not have a now-predestined death to contend with. Considering Noctium is also not a world at war, he'd at first struggle with finding a role for himself.
I want him to utilize the therapy services (and connections with other player characters) to work out his guilt over Selena and his mother's deaths. I'd like to have him focus on a role he gave up when Galahd fell; he had been a bartender and wanted to open up a bar with his best friend. So, he'd take up cooking again and crafting beer with the hope to open his own place, eventually. This will also give him something to do with his hands.
That blind loyalty also ties into his affection for King Regis and Prince Noctis. I'd like to have him, again, work on living for himself, and not in a role of protector or soldier for others. It'll be hard, but I think he can do it. It'll also give him a chance to explore more casual intimacy.
Condition upon arrival: Stable, but damaged, with burns around his face, neck and arms.
Abilities: As a Kingsglaive, Nyx was granted access to the magical abilities of King Regis; these powers were lost when Regis died. From his canon point, however, Nyx has access to those powers again, but it is through his connection to the Kings of Lucis from putting on the Ring of the Lucii.
Nyx has the ability to cast spells made of fire, ice or thunder (or combinations thereof). He can cast smaller spells easily, but larger ones and continuous casting drain him and aggravate the scarring on his face; it lessens/disappears the longer he doesn't cast. He can also cast defensive magic, putting up shields to block incoming damage, use minor healing magic (he can heal minor cuts and bruises, or reduce the damage of larger ones, but can't revive someone or reverse instantly fatal wounds), and render himself invisible.
Finally, he can "warp", throwing a weapon and following it in a burst of magical energy to enhance the strike. Within the Kingsglaive, Nyx is considered one of the most proficient at it, as even trained individuals find it nauseating and often throw up.
Nyx's power in the film was shown to be on par with King Regis', once he put on the ring. He isn't intending on getting into any big fights, but if he does, using a lot of magic at once will aggravate the burn scars on his body and cause him pain, forcing him to limit the fights to short ones. He has the raw power, but no longer the divine backing/regeneration from the film, and little inclination to get into a city-wide fight.

2. His Kingsglaive uniform (damaged)
