[Jackie appreciated that the guy didn't want to make him feel put out of a space that didn't belong to either of them, but he's survived the streets for years back home. This place was fancy in comparison. Finding somewhere else wouldn't be such a big deal.]
Can't really kick me out if I haven't even settled in. Besides, if the rest of the units look like this, they're all better than where I grew up. I'm not picky.
[Is he really going to argue about who gets to be the most selfless here? Probably. When he turns back to look at the other man directly he notices the staring.]
More something I'm curious about, if I'm honest. I haven't seen markings like that before.
[ he sees no shame in admitting he's looking; it's probably ruder to pretend differently. as if in explanation, he gestures to his own face, the small but present tattoos under his left eye and on his right cheek, and on his fingers. ]
Tattoos are one thing, but yours look almost mechanical?
[ his voice lilts up in a question. ]

[Jackie relaxes a little when he realizes this isn't about something else. He still has charm when he needs it, but pulling it out of nowhere like he did in his younger days didn't happen as easily. As an afterthought he's not sure that knowing that the stranger wasn't hitting on him was a good or bad thing--probably neither.]
Yeah, figured you meant that. Shit's common back home. People get implants, enhancements, modifications, all sorts of shit. It's so common now that the scars and traces left behind by them sort of turned into fashion statements.
[He points to the lines on his head where hair doesn't grow anymore, but the cyberware on his face is probably the most distracting.]
[ he says it a bit dryly - like he's used to being the one stared at and not the other way around. but, he listens to jackie as he explains it, although an expression of confusion crosses his face once he's done. ]
Wait, functional? So, what, you can call someone using your cheek or something?
[ it's not about how it looks and more the idea of technology under his skin. the only comparison nyx has is the magitek soldiers back home - and its a harsh secret that they're humans implanted with tech and daemonic energy until they're not human anymore. ]
[But that's neither here nor there. He laughs at that question, trying to remember not everyone in this place is aware of the tech that exists in his world.]
Yeah, stuff like that. I can also slip in data shards to get deets about anything. [Jackie doesn't hesitate to eject whatever he currently had in the port embedded in his temple, probably something about the last job he was running before he was brought here. He tosses the thing at Nyx. It's small and still warm from having just come out of him.]

It's all functional, though. The tech.
